Still sick!

I can't believe that I'm still sick - this has been how many weeks now? I get a little better, then BAM! I'm knocked on my ass again. Yesterday I was feeling pretty good, even thought I'd be able to take karate class today (slowly, but still suit up and work out a bit), now today I'm totally out of it again. I'm thinking I'm going to back down and start the antibiotics that the doctor prescribed last week and told me to hold off on. Each day I've been feeling a little better, so thought I could avoid another course of them, but now I'm thinking it's my only hope of EVER getting better.

In the meantime, D has been husband of the year (don't tell him, he'll get a big head!)...he's been keeping up on all the laundry, dishes, taking M to/from stuff, all while doing his own job. He's let me sleep in in the mornings to get that extra rest I so need, and sends me to bed at a reasonable hour every nite.

I also have had another thing going for me this week...remember how I said that the school I work with was closed till Wednesday? Well, I drove out there yesterday and it looks like it's going to be closed the rest of this week for building maintenance. That gives me this week to try and rest and get better, while also getting some of this blasted work done that has piled up on my desk. The joy of that all is that I can do it in my pajamas and alternate between working and resting as need be. I don't have to be out and presentable to the public, although I think I will need to go into the district office tomorrow to take care of a few things. What a relief! AND, what better timing...I must have pleased the gods in some way that they are being this good to me!

Today the sun has come out, much needed after yesterdays torrential downpours all day long. We still have the flood warnings and high wind warnings and winter storm warnings, and all that other fun stuff, but the big yellow orb in the sky is out and shining down upon us making it all seem so much less horrible.

We did find out yesterday that the woman who M has taken horse back riding lessons from in the past had her arena/barn collapse in the snow storm. Luckily all of her horses (and herself) were unharmed in the collapse, but so very scary! M, being the caring child she is, immediately called one of her friends from school to make sure that her pony, who is boarded at the barn, was OK. He is, along with all the others. I can't imagine...we were so lucky to have not lost anything in the storm besides our sanity. Another classmate of M's had to be evacuated from their home after several days of no power. Apparently when the daughter stopped feeling her fingers and toes, they called the sheriff to ask for an evacuation. We had other friends who lost power, but were able to get out and about, and yet another set of friends who were able to move into their fifth wheel when their power went out. Just a lesson that it's so important to be prepared. Luckily we have enough food and water between the two houses that we could probably survive for a couple days without being able to get out if we had no power, but we should really make sure of that for the future.

Yesterday M shocked me by telling me a story about another girl at school saying something to her. She (M) relayed the story by using a real snotty, whiny voice for this other girl's part in it, then looked at me and said, "She didn't really say it like that, I just did that for 'dramatic effect'". OH JEEZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just what Mommy's little drama queen needs is added dramatic effect in her story telling!

In the near future, I'm going to be flying solo around here as D has a coaches training this weekend (he helps coach the HS rugby team), then next week meetings at the coast that he'll be staying over out there for. I really hate that he gets to go and do these things and I'm ALWAYS around here - I want a business trip! I did get to go to Salem for training a couple months ago - 2 days in a row even! BUT STILL! SO NOT FAIR!!!!!!!! It also reminds me that I really need a hobby that takes me out of the house. Right now I have sewing and cross stitch and that sort of thing, but they are all "at home" things. I need something that's going to take me out of the house and put me in contact with other people... will have to work on that this year.
