HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

(sorry for the delay here - this has been sitting in my "drafts" to be posted for a few days as D's Dad needed the room before I was done writing)...

Well, it's here - 2009 - and with it "normal" Oregon weather of rain and wind and cold. There's still some remnants of the snow that was, but for the most part it's back to normal for us.

Yesterday M and I enjoyed a girls day out with a movie & lunch at McD's. We saw Marley & Me - I had read the book, so there were no surprises, but note to self...don't go see a movie about a dog who is a faithful friend and dies at the end (sorry if I ruined the ending for you...) when you have one of your own at home. Pasha just turned 11 on December 23rd and is getting older every day it seems. She still has her puppy moments, but some days just looks OLD!!!

Anyway, after the movie and lunch we came home and I took a nap while M watched some TV. I'm still fighting this cough and it's just got me worn out - I cough and my head starts to hurt and I'm just exhausted by the end of it all.

After my nap, we got all gussied up and went out to a nice dinner at the Brew Pub (one of the nicest restaurants in our small town). We seemed to have beat the rush as we got in and out just as things were getting packed.

After dinner we got home and watched Mamma Mia with the family. M hadn't seen it before, but I have to say I'm glad that I'd already had "the talk" with her after D's Dad answered her question of "what's 'dot, dot, dot' mean?" with "It means they had sex". Had I not had "the talk" with her, her response would have been much different than, "OH", as would mine of, ::giggle giggle:: "good think I've already had THAT talk with her and she knows what that means" ::giggle giggle::.

There was a little time for Wii Cheerleading, which was confusing for all, but M seemed to enjoy (and we have some video of her and D's Mom doing it together...).

D's parents pooped out pretty early and headed off to bed at about 10pm, so we toasted the midwestern new year and D, M and I headed home while all grandparents went to bed. Granted, Mom wasn't quite ready to head to bed, but was pretty wiped out so really needed to get some sleep. Upon getting home, I went to bed by 11ish, leaving D and M to watch the Disney Channel New Year's show. I know, I suck! Since I was about M's age I haven't "missed" the ball drop, but I was just emotionally and physically drained, so decided to call it a night early. Hell, we'd already toasted...

D and M (and our lovely neighbors with explosives) woke me up at midnite to wish me a happy new year, then we all went to bed (except for the dogs who took major issue with the neighbors' explosives...luckily they stopped by about 12:30).

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!
